Pre-school

Overall goal: To inspire the love of learning into the hearts of the little ones. To introduce basic core knowledge of language, math, science, social studies, art and music, so that they may build upon these initial "pegs of knowledge" in future grades.

Introducing concepts using the framework below:
  • Color of the Month
  • Shape of the month
  • skills of the month: listening, rhyming, matching, sorting, similar groups
  • Directional words (forward, backword, above, below, between, beside) Patterns
  • opposites

Weekly we focus on a letter and sound of that week and a number of the week. We concentrate daily on the calendar (months of the year, days of the week) as well as counting forward and backward from the number of the week. We also practice writing our name and numbers and one to one correlation. We incorporate art with the use of different mediums using scissors and appropriate amounts of glue. Music is used to present new ideas, a new type of music, or to enhance activities and transition times. We include a game time to practice following rules and to practice being a good sport. We have weekly topics that correlate to the seasons, the calendar, holidays, different countries, science topics, art and music. We work on following a classroom schedule, walking in line, and using our manners.
