What is Expected of Parents?
We know that in this busy world, each family desires to know what is expected of them. Here is a brief synopsis of each family's expected contribution to the functioning of CHA. Please note that parents CAN tutor and, if they do, they do not have to be a POP (see below). If you are interested in tutoring, please talk with an administrator when you register your child(ren).
Volunteering Requirements - POPS
POPS are 'Parents on Patrol.' Parents are asked to volunteer between eight to ten full school days out of the school year and are used wherever help may be needed during the school day. Their time is spent in assisting at drop-off and dismissal, monitoring the lunch period, filing and copying, ringing the bells between classes, grading homework papers, taking young ones on bathroom breaks, and generally filling in wherever needed. The popping job is vital to the success of our program, as they keep everything running smoothly throughout the day for the students, as well as for the tutors and administration.
It’s a fun job and parents are able to see their kids during the Academy days!
CHAs Jobs
CHAs is an acronym for 'Christ’s Hands in Action'. Each family at CHA (Christiana Homeschool Academy) is asked to participate by means of a CHAs job in addition to either being a POP or Tutoring. The CHAs jobs are various volunteer positions which help CHA to run smoothly. Some examples are helping to set up and take down furniture, helping to put on our annual events such as the Open House and Orientation, helping with dismissal at the end of the day, and morning devotions at the start of the day, and helping with the annual book ordering event. There are always plenty of jobs to go around! A list is provided when a family registers and the jobs are assigned prior to the beginning of the school year.
