During this time of gift-giving and card-sending, the families of Christiana Homeschool Academy would like to take time to wish all our friends and families a very joyous Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We have been humbled, loved and cared for by a God who is bigger than we can ever know or imagine. In a time of great need at CHA, we turned to our loving God and asked Him to provide a much needed heating system and additional funding for our general operation. Thinking that it would take most of the school year to scrape together the needed money, we embarked on a campaign to “Heat the Summit.” Within just a couple weeks, most of the money we needed has come in.
We also started this year with spaces in some of our classes. This was new for us and we began a marketing campaign to fill those spaces. Again, God has graciously answered and several new families will be joining us in January. And the interesting thing is that these families were ‘looking’ for us too…they were in need of support, curriculum help and activities for their children. We are excited that these new families will be coming on board for the rest of the year.
God took two ‘big’ situations and worked amazingly! Or maybe I should say they were ‘big’ to us. They were tiny to God.
The same is true of the big problem of sin and the separation of God from man. This is BIG and humanity cannot even begin to address this. No…we cannot make our own way to heaven. So, God took this big problem and made a way….’not with fanfares from above…not with scenes of glory, but a humble gift of love, Jesus born of Mary. (Joy Has Dawned, Getty).’
And as we look at the issues around us…terrorism, sickness, war, race relations and so many other newsworthy issues, we can get lost in the ‘largeness’ of it all. We can fall into despair. The people of Biblical times had been waiting so long for a Messiah. When would He come? They expected the fanfare, the pageantry, the scenes of glory. But instead, Jesus came to a manger situated in the ‘armpit’ of the middle east. Bethlehem was not known for its greatness. It was a small village, a melting pot of cultures. And yet, that is where God would have His son be born. As C.S. Lewis so eloquently states: “once in our world, a stable had something in it that was bigger than our whole world.” A dirty, filthy, feeding trough for the livestock was the place that the King of the World would lay His head.
It won’t be that way when He returns. We are assured in Revelation that He will come again with great pageantry and everyone will bow the knee. He will rule over heaven and earth. Amen and Amen.
May you rest in knowing that God is not finished yet. He started something when He first said ‘let there be light’ and the story continues. That is why we do what we do at CHA. It is an exciting and beautiful story and we want our students to seek truth, beauty and goodness in all that God has created and in all that He is doing. Consider joining us in this great adventure to know God fully and make Him known.
